By creating an IRS online account, you have access to key data from your most recently filed tax return, your adjusted gross income, access transcripts, information about your Economic Impact Payments, information about your advance Child Tax Credit payments, digital copies of certain notices from the IRS, making payments from your bank account or by debit/credit card, view 5 years of payment and estimated tax payment history, view any pending or scheduled payments, go paperless for certain notices, get email notifications for new notices, view the amount you owe and a breakdown by tax year, learn about payment plan options and apply for a new payment plan, view details of your payment plan if you have one, view any authorization requests from tax professionals, and approve and electronically sign Power of Attorney and Tax Information Authorization from your tax professional.
MPO & Co. urges all our clients to create an IRS online account as it has numerous exceptionally helpful benefits.
Get An Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)
An Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) is a six-digit number that prevents a fraudulent entity or individual from filing a Federal Individual Income Tax Return using your Social Security number. The IP PIN is known only to you, your tax preparer, and the IRS and helps the IRS validate your identity when you file your electronic or paper tax return. All taxpayers are eligible for this free protection once you verify your identity to the IRS with a few credit information questions.
MPO & Co. highly recommends our clients to use this free service provided by the IRS to protect themselves against fraud.
